The Crew Lounge Podcast: Tweet Like a Flight Attendant – Click to Listen!
One of the many reasons I love my social media job is the opportunity to meet fabulous, interesting people. I’ve befriended folks that I would have otherwise not had the chance to meet if it weren’t for my company, Boingo Wireless, Twitter, Facebook and the rest of the social networks. While I haven’t met most of my social media buddies in person, I do feel a kinship with them because of the commonalities that brought us into online conversation in the first place. Some people make fun of that but it’s not much different from bonding with a pen pal from across the world back in the days before email.
Anyway, one of my favorite Twitter and Facebook people is Sara Keagle, a flight attendant, travel blogger and all-around super-fly lady! Sara hosts a podcast show called “The Crew Lounge,” and yesterday she and another flight attendant, Mimi, interviewed me.
We discussed my job in social media at Boingo, our approach to the delivery of customer care via social networks and the ways in which Twitter and Facebook have changed travel. Sara gifted me with the dearest compliment: “Boingo is so lucky to have you…you’re good at social media and you’re genuine…I never feel like you’re trying to sell to me. I consider you a friend.” Even though I get a lot of support from the Boingo management team, it’s very rewarding (perhaps more so) to hear praise from the community.
Sara’s nice words also overshadow the fact that I suck in this podcast! Ugh! My voice and inarticulate words make me want to bury my head in the sand. Sigh. Still, I am SO honored and thankful to The Crew Lounge for inviting me on the show!
Here’s a link to The Crew Lounge podcast – enjoy! I join in about halfway through the show.
