Mashable and CNN want to know what readers are doing this summer to get unplugged from work, gadgets and the Internet. Disconnecting has been quite a personal challenge for me, especially as a community manager for Boingo Wireless. But in the last few months, I have discovered a great way to get away: long weekends at national parks in the U.S.
In the last few months, I have vacationed at Yosemite, Mount Rainier and Big Sur. Unlike many other travel spots I tend to visit, these national parks offer little Internet connectivity (cellular is non-existent, and Wi-Fi is only available in selected venues) but a whole lotta natural wonders. So without the temptation of online connectivity, I was “forced” to enjoy my immediate surroundings. And boy, what a joy it was. The happiness I felt was pure and simple.
