I have adopted a six-week bunny. She is a Holland Mini-Lop and quite possibly the smartest bunny I’ve owned. She’s also the fastest little thing, as the video above demonstrates. Her name is Fancy Pants, by vote of my Facebook friends.
It’s been six months since my Boo Boos died at ten years of age. I’m still really sad about it, but I surprised myself two weeks ago when I suddenly entertained the idea of getting another bunny. I did some research and found Bunny Central, a rabbit breeder in Concord, California. So I drove out there and picked out Ms. Fancy Pants, who was the liveliest of the litter.
During the first twenty-four hours of our co-habitation, Fancy and I slowly got to know each other. I can’t say I loved her yet, but I was delighted to have her. After day two, I fell in love. And now, I can’t wait to get home to Fancy.
Fancy and I have been together for almost a week. She learned to use the litter-box very quickly, and she is already feeling confined by her “pen” which is the entire area of my small kitchen. In the evenings, I let her run around the living room for an hour (it’s too soon training-wise to give her full run of the apartment). She runs around like a crazy little bunny, doing bunny binkie jumps in the air. I think Fancy is catching on to her name and thankfully, she understands the word “no” — even if she chooses to ignore it now and then.
So meet Fancy (watch the video) and stay tuned for plenty of bunny stories.
